Explosive Effects is owned and managed by Louise Hollowell and Piers Hunt.
Explosive Effects was originally established in 2000 as a company specialising in high impact combat simulation effects at air shows. Notable successes here resulted in Explosive Effects entering the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest wall of fire. (1127m [1.12km])
In 2004 Explosive Effects went on to expanded their armoury business into the television, film and theatre industries within South Australia. They have worked on a number of TV series such as Firebite, McLeod’s daughters, Wanted, Home and Away, Danger 5 – series one and two, and Wolf Creek (TV series 1 and 2).
They have also worked on feature films including Mortal Kombat, New Boy, The Stranger, Wolf Creek 2, Swerve, One Eyed Girl, 100 Bloody Acres, The Pack, and Storm Boy.
Today, Explosive Effects is South Australia’s leading television and film armoury company, providing an individually tailored service to prospective clients.
Explosive Effects have access to over 150 assorted weapons, along with a vast array of associated accessories and props relating to firearms and their use.
Explosive Effects also have an extensive collection of Law Enforcement uniform for hire.
The owners and four staff of Explosive Effects have over 100 years of tactical policing, military and national competition shooting expertise that they put to use in their armoury work whether it be a coaching role to actors or technical advice for directors.
